Meet the Halifax Circuit team:

The Superintendent Minister is the Rev. Albert Gayle

Albert is the Superintendent Minister of the Halifax Circuit. He is originally from Jamaica and has served in Durham, Leeds and Bradford.
When he gets time he enjoys cooking, walking, reading and music.

The Circuit Ministers, with pastoral oversight.

Rev. Judith Satchell

Judith is married to Paul and has a daughter, Hilary, who lives in Sheffield with her husband, Alex.
She enjoys taking part in a 'Bike' class at the gym, walking in the countryside, all kinds of sewing and she is starting to learn to play the clarinet.

Rev. Paul Welch

Paul is Minister for Boothtown, Mount Zion, Illingworth and Southowram. Paul has a wife Lynn, who is a teacher and two daughters, Hannah and Bethany.
Halifax Circuit is his second appointment, having been in the Leeds North East Circuit for the past 7 years. In LNE he was responsible for three churches, one in the Suburbs, one in a Village and another on a council estate. So a very varied experience!
One of his great passions is playing and watching football. He also plays golf and a little bit of squash and likes watching most sports that have a round ball involved.

The Circuit Lay Workers Mrs Stella Christie

Stella and her husband John, moved to Halifax in 2003, after living in Hertfordshire for 30 years. Her 2 black labradors love walking in the hills, and they usually take her along. She makes lace, weaves, sews, and does yoga, when time permits. She holds joint membership and is an Anglican Reader!

 

Miss Ruth Needham

Ruth has lived in Halifax since the 1970's, being originally from the Pontefract area.

She enjoyes walking, especially in the English Lake District, music, the theatre and reading.

Mrs Paula Prosser

Paula is married to Steve (a Cornishman) and they have one daughter Sarah. They came to live in Bradford in 1996. Paula comes from Thornton near Blackpool. She enjoys going to the gym, and plenty of swimming and walks in the country. Paula is a parent governor at her daughter's school.

Mrs Melanie Beavan

Melanie Beaven

Melanie moved to Halifax in 2004 to join her husband Glyn. Glyn grew up in Halifax but was posted with the army in Germany - and that's how they met. Mel enjoys walking their three dogs (who are ever so slightly mad), caravanning especially in the Scottish Highlands, arts & crafts as well as reading and having heated debates about current affairs. Watching comedies such as "The Royle Family" and reciting catch phrases, is one pastime best not talked about...!

 

The Circuit Administrator Mr Bill Place

Bill is a thoroughbred Yorkshireman who before becoming Circuit Administrator served in the Police Force throughout West Yorkshire for 32 years.
Married to Anne.
Main hobby French Protestant history, Director of La Providence, the Huguenot Almshouse in Rochester, former member of Council of the Huguenot Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
Also proud owner of an Airedale dog, previously breeder of them, Sealyhams and Irish Terriers. He can be reached on the following email, but is only actually in his office at Salem from 9am to 12 noon.

Senior Circuit Steward Mrs Patricia Atkinson

Tricia moved to Halifax in 1988 from the Bradford Great Horton Circuit. She was headteacher of a Bradford Middle School.
She is married to Neil, and now that she is "retired" she is very busy being governor of two schools, a room guide for East Riddlesden Hall, a volunteer at the Square Chapel, a member at St.Andrew's Church and a free lance worker at The Thackray Medical Museum, Leeds. This of course is without mentioning Circuit and Church work!

Mrs Caroline Stead, Circuit Steward reponsible for 'Policy'

Caroline has lived in Halifax for most of her life. She enjoys walking, riding horses, eating curry, and NUMBERS! She does not enjoy catching the mice her cat brings home as presents!

Michael Nicholl, Circuit Steward reponsible for 'Finance'

Michael Nicholl

Michael is married to Jane and has two children (Mark living in Brighouse and Catherine in Sheffield) and four grandchildren. He was born in and has  always lived in Halifax and is a Chartered Accountant, having worked with the same local professional firm since leaving school at 18.

When grandchildren permit Michael is interested in most sports. But now only as a spectator! He is a lifelong supporter of Halifax Town AFC (now FC Halifax Town).

Roy Sykes, Circuit Steward

 

Roy is a retired textile design executive, and when he is not engaged in Church activities, he sings with the Halifax Choral Society (soon to be 200 years old), and All Souls’ Operatic Society. He is a member of the Halifax Probus club and is a Learning Link Tutor at Calderdale College. He has attended Ebenezer Methodist Church for over 60 years. His immediate family (parents, sister, himself and nephews and niece) have given a total of over 140 years of service to the Boys’ Brigade movement in Halifax.
